I will try to explain the purpose of this blog as clearly and simply as possible. The purpose of this blog is to expose unprofessional conduct of police officers; not to complain about officers doing their job correctly. This blog is an avenue for the public to legitimately complain about officers breaking the law, acting unprofessionally, and putting us in danger. If you have broken the law and were pulled over by the police and were treated professionally, this blog is not the place to post your complaints. This blog is also not the place to defend the proper conduct of police officers. This blog has one objective, to provide an avenue to expose improper conduct of an officer or department.
REASONS TO POST IN THIS BLOG:
Law Enforcement breaks the law
Law Enforcement behaves in an unprofessional manner, even when you’ve broken the law
Law Enforcement infringes upon your civil rights by pulling you over without true probable cause, or demanding information they have no legal right to demand.
REASONS NOT TO POST IN THIS BLOG:
To complain about proper police conduct – if you break the law and are treated professionally, this is not the place to complain about it.
Defending proper police conduct.
Watchful I respects and supports police officers who conduct themselves as public servants and demands such conduct from all officers.
Postings that do not reflect the objective of this blog will be deleted.

This sounds one sided and is not fair. Once again someone only wanting the negitive and not the positive....I think that "The Purpose" is a joke. What will this slove? Why not take the problems to the department head? All of this talk will not slove a thing. What about free speach? Can we hear both sides of this so called problem or just the negitive? Hve you ever heard the term "fair and balanced".......
I am very dissapointed. This objective makes me wonder if you really want to help things get better or if you have some alterior motive. I remember reading about you speaking of democracy and how important that is and wonder how that fits with your one sided objective. I have never known a core democratic value to restrict free speach. I have lost all respect for you Martin and am very disappointed in your agenda.
Not fair? We haven’t been treated fairly by our “finest” for a long time. You want fair treatment from us, something you deny us? Obviously nothing else is working to bring police conduct back to a respectable level; this blog may be our last chance. I will not allow our voices to be smothered by a flood of irrelevant postings.
I don’t strive for your respect; I want you to do your job properly, that is my agenda!
I am not Martin Dzuris. I remain anonymous so you won’t pry into my life or take revenge on me.
what exactly would you consider an irrevelant posting to be then. every one can twist a story in to what they want it to be so every story that has been twisted is irreveleant.
"the officer was a little hash with me when he warned me for my speed"."He also asked me to step out of the vehicle". "I realize I had previous runins with the police where weapons were an issue so Im not mad about it".
Turns into
"The Officer was totaly rude to me. He was yelling bad words at me. Then he yanked me out of the car by my arm. I was totaly inocent he pulled me over for nothing. I was so mad!"
every story can be twisted and molded in to what you want it to be. Isnt that how Media personnel operate. they take what they want the public to hear and thats it. this is the same thing. you ask people to post their bad runins with the police, police misconduct. I agree with the others this is a one sided attempt aimed at the police! we always hate them till we get woke up by someone rummaging through our house and then we love and need them!
Yes, anonymous cop, cops are always right and the public is always wrong. All of the public’s complaints are either exaggerated or flat out manufactured. Any official complaints are no doubt handled in the same manner.
its funny that every one that doesnt bash a cop must be a cop. sorry to inform you i am not a cop, but i am in college to become a cop. I always wanted to be a police officer. this website makes me rethink my decision. I dont want to deal with a public that loves to hate, i want to deal with a public that wants the police around.
my request for a public that would be greatfull to have police around would be a wish never fullfilled. i guess this side of the state is not really where I want to work.
I am sure that you will take this down so I probably should not waist the time. But I will just make this a personal message between you and I Mr. Anonymous. In your heading of the website does it not mention discussing these horrible injustices that are occurring? I think that you are waging a court of public opinion and not offering any type of defense. I am sure that it is very frustrating that you took all this time to create a website that has backfired and shows a huge support for the police. So now you will delete any post that is not in line with your agenda. I guess I should not be shocked. So I guess I wish you well on your "COP BASHING ONLY" website. However, I do hope you remember that for all of these injustices that you have endured there is a court of law where you can defend yourself and the state will even provide you with the necessary help, which is more than you are willing to offer here. If you post this you may earn a little respect in the eyes of those who already know it has been written.
I think that you all don't know what the police actually do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They do their jobs with great respect and treat everyone the same. If you give a cop an attitude then your desirve to get one right back. Put yourself in their shoes for once in your life.
IT IS HARD TO BE A COP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya know, I have to commend the New Buffalo cops for the work that they do. I have lived in many different areas, small and large. Never have I lived in an area as nice as New Buffalo. With the coming of the casino it has changed. But, never the less, I feel safe living, walking, and driving the streets. When I heard about this website, I was absolutely disgusted. To the maker of this blog - you should be ashamed. To the men and women who serve, I thank you.
i was treated like a terrorist by new buffalos finest. i have live here my whole life. the police force in this town is a joke. the other day i was working and was waiting for my ride when a police officer asked what i was doing in the neighborhood. i wanted to ask them the same question since i was on private property. here is another thing why is new buffalo township out patrolling 1000 north in in indiana i am not paying taxes so they can cruise around another state.
Did it ever occur to you that officers must sometimes locate victims, suspects, or witnesses to interview who may live over the state line? This is another example of a statment made by an ignorant (without knowledge) person who didnt stop to think for a minute before criticizing something they have very little knowledge of.
You can't create a blog and expect it to succeed or be productive by barring the other side of the story from being heard. Whats wrong with allowing people to also voice their support or positive experiences. It would create balance and prevent the blog from becoming a "witch hunt" or an e-insurerection. If you dont want the positive comments posted, it seems like you're ducking out from being challenged.
To the Harbor Country Police Officers, New Buffalo, Three Oaks, Bridgman, and Chikaming, please refrain from using this site. It is only fueling the fire. There is no need to voice your opinion about this site, because deep down, we know that we are doing our jobs to the best of our ability. To those police officers who conduct themselves in a professional manner, I commend you, and I am glad to work with you as your colleague. We (the professional officers) know our goal is to provide professional police services in the efforts of preventing, deterring, and detecting criminal activity with the best efforts of protecting the innocent from falling prey to criminals. Keep up the good work.
You Friend and Colleague
This blog is stirring up many emotions and controversy. I have given exposure to this blog on my radio show, Martin Dzuris Live, which airs on Radio Harbor Country, WRHC 106.7 F.M., and my website www.dzuris.com, which may be the reason many here think this is my blog. The person responsible for this blog, known as Watchful I, informed me by email that he started this blog because he was inspired by my show. I support grass roots initiatives by citizens that want to bring upon a positive change. To my understanding, that is the purpose of this blog: to improve the relationship between the general public and the local police departments. I strongly believe that there is a problem between the community and some local police departments, even if that problem is merely a communication problem. I personally have experienced unprofessional police conduct too many times to ignore it anymore. Since I spoke about this conduct on my show, MANY citizens personally complained to me about unprofessional police conduct in our area.
I support a movement that is working to better our community and establish or maintain a good relationship between the community and our local police departments. I highly respect the job of police officers. The job is honorable and difficult and they must deal with criminals and take abuse from disgruntled citizens. I respect police officers that perform their duties in a professional and legal manner. However, there is a problem somewhere. There are too many legitimate complaints to ignore or deny that a problem exists. I believe this blog is trying to remedy the problem.
It has been brought to my attention that many readers believe the objective of this blog is to merely bash police officers. At this time, I do not see it that way. I see it as a grass roots effort to make a positive change in the community, which is why I’ve posted a link on my website and given exposure on my radio program. If, in time, it becomes evident that the purpose of this blog is to merely bash police officers, such exposure on my part will cease.
Regardless on which side of the issue you stand, I encourage all to keep an open mind and listen to the other side. Work together toward a positive solution. I want to commend good police officers for their service and community members that have the courage to voice their disapproval of poor performance of our public servants.
I will not be responding to any entries addressed to me on this blog for it is not my venue. To hear my response, tune into my radio show at WRHC 106.7 F.M. Monday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. or visit my website www.dzuris.com. If you have a question for me, call my radio show or email me at live@dzuris.com. I’m always open to hear both sides of an issue. Feel free to contact me with reports of proper or improper conduct of the local law enforcement.
Sure there are some cops out there that are doing there jobs but I have had them walking around my house looking into my windows looking for a person who was not there. Which I think is an evasion of privacy. What gives cops the right to go around looking into a single woman's windows? If any one else did that they would be called peeping toms. They have stopped people leaving my house and have made the comment to the person wondering if they were sleeping with me. What is it any of there business? I have also watched local cops have their lights and sirens on just to pull into a parking lot and park. What does that do other than put people in danger. What would happen if they lost control and killed someone? The local cops just abuse their power too much.
Who's watching YOU "Watchful I?" So you're the ONLY law abiding person in Harbor Country?
I think we need to find out who "Watchful I" is and watch him/her to see what they do wrong. See if they're rude or disrespectful. I think this person may have had a poor experience and thinks poorly of ALL law enforcment. That or they're one of those people who has the answer to everything. A particular art dealer in New Buffalo comes to mind. But he'll remain nameless....
For posting.
I've seen good cops: I've seen bad cops. You cannot generalize. It is okay to complain, if the complaint is not based on a lie nor biased.
The most honest depiction of our police departments can be found in a book called, Dreams In Blue: The Real Police. It's honest to the point that the author has drawn sharpe criticsm for writing the book. I found mine at B. Daltons on the mall.
If the true purpose of this blog is to make a difference, then I encourage the posters to post dates and names and what the incident was, otherwise what in the world does this accomplish except to further the divide between law enforcement and the public. I guarantee you:
A) Local law enforcement is reading here.
B) if the same names keep coming up , with incident after incident, someone will pay attention.
You don't want to take it to the brass who are in charge of the dept ? Fine, then at least post enough information here that maybe someone may look into it, otherwise you sound like nothing but a bunch of whiney crybabies.
Hello,
If you would like to make a difference - please patrol Elm Valley Road.....(EXIT Six ROAD) between exit Six and Red Arrow. Walk on it all the time and so many are speeding. It is not safe to walk on the road to the Union Pier area of town. The speed is 25 and most are going at least 40 plus! Thank you.
I just wanted to say that you all are complaining about the police and my question is who are you all to point the finger at people. I know that we have freedom to speech but really this is harsh and lets just say can't we all get along. Who is this Watchful I you can't even post your name if you are having that many problems with your local police then do something about it.
I know you all are thinking man this person has no idea i do i am married to a police officer that works down in the new buffalo area. I want you to all no how worried i get everyday that he gets dressed in his uniform to go and safe all of you from harm. What happens when one day he doesn't come home and i have to tell the children that there father isn't coming home because he was out making sure everyone is safe.
So now you know that does that make a difference if not then you really need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are a human being.
from one Police wife to you!!!
I thought we are trying to weed out the bad cops. I use the term cop here, because I only respect the good officers. If we can't state their names, how will anything be done? I thought this is a forum for complaints about disrespect and bad behavior. We need to single out those who do wrong, so that actions can be taken. Yes we can complain to the authorities, but I, like others don't trust that our complaints will be taken seriously and we may be prosecuted. A "bad cop" has the chance to be believed over a regular citizen (he said...she said).
I thank the good officers, and would like to get rid of the overzealous bad cops.
Thanks, Watchful I, keep up the good work!
FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!! Thank God for that! And, if you don't like this blog or don't agree, then don't read it! I, too, have also had issues with police who take their "power" too far. Again, Thank God New Buffalo has been released from the terrorizing of one infamous long time former NB police officer. Four Winds has him now! What a relief, but now we have replaced him with younger more arrogant officers. Is there a prerequisite to have a personality disorder to become a police officer? There are a few reasonable officers.. Sadly, I must stress the word "few". File a complaint? PLEASE! and be harassed in the meantime? No Thanks.. I shouldn't HAVE to file a complaint. I will and am going to remain anonymous.. The legal system isn't always fair, especially in this community. And what, can't the police handle a little criticism, whether or not they agree? That is life, and they are OUR public servants being paid by OUR tax dollars...
And no, I am not a criminal, never been. But I have had some issues and complaints that I have called upon the police to handle. Sometimes, I never hear back, other times, I have been told to "deal with it", and "move away if you don't like it". Am I kidding you? NO!
